After the keyboard is turned off for a longer period of time and then turned back on again, the display goes back to the view in the upper right corner only.

You will need to check how to do that for your keyboard. Some keyboards let you change the contrast and other Display settings. Though it is not a norm, the LED on some keyboards can become dim.
